In 2011, Keep A Breast founder Shaney jo Darden gave it her all as she rode 65 miles on a bicycle to help raise funds for the Young Survival Coalition, a non-profit that Keep A Breast works closely with. When asked about her experience she replied, "This was an incredible challenge for me since I had never done anything like this is my life. I put my tears and stress in the peddles and just peddled it all out!”

It was only a matter of time before Keep A Breast and Brooklyn Cruiser teamed up to build The Willow 3, a limited edition three speed step-through bicycle built exclusively for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Starting October 1, you will be able to order this one of a kind cruiser with 100% of the proceeds going to the Keep A Breast Foundation. Equipt with no-slip pedals, a double kickstand and a rear rack this ready to go cruiser is perfect for anyone looking for style, comfort and durability. “We are super excited because Keep A Breast is centered on health and a bicycle for KAB really aligned with our mission. It’s one of the most effective workouts you’ll ever do. Just 30 minutes of aerobic activity 3-5 times a week can lower the risk of breast cancer by 30 to 50%,” says Shaney.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Studies show that some risk factors may include; family history, age, being overweight and not getting regular exercise. However, some of these risk are controllable, including the importance of exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

As little as 30 minutes a day can really make a difference in your life. It can be as easy as taking three 10 minute bike rides throughout the course of a day. But who knows maybe with time you too will be able to do a 65 mile ride for a great cause. Like Shaney set a goal and achieve it, “Realizing that I love cycling is such has been such an impact on my life. It’s a great feeling to see that you can actually accomplish huge, crazy, insane goals with the support of friends, family and hard work."

The Willow goes on sale October 1, but visit Brooklyn Cruiser to learn more about the features and specifications designed exclusively for the bicycle. And as always make sure to keep up with Keep A Breast to stay on top of all of the latest news and messages.
