KAB Just Gave Away $120,000 in Grants!
How did we get to $120,000 in awarded grants for breast cancer survivors and BIPOC women with a breast cancer diagnosis this past funding cycle?
It all began back in October 2020 in Nashville, TN. An astounding 80+ castees and just as many talented artists contributed their time and love toward helping us put on a phenomenal art show (our first in Nashville!) Proceeds from the exhibit were distributed directly to Black women with a breast cancer diagnosis living in Tennessee, as well as toward Keep A Breast programming.
That year, we were able to award a total of 16 grants directly funded by our KAB Nashville Collection and additional partners and supporters. It was a huge success and an amazing opportunity for us to support women minorities with a breast cancer diagnosis. We were so totally inspired by the women who applied, and by the support the program gained, that we aimed to majorly ramp up our Give Back Grant in 2021.
Now, here we are! Beyond proud and excited to announce that with our 2021 grant cycle we have awarded a total of 240 grants to BIPOC women diagnosed with breast cancer, that’s a 1,500% increase in just one year, made possible through generous support and donations from our community!
BIPOC women applied from all over the United States and reflected varying socio-economic backgrounds. The applicants are entrepreneurs, health care workers, wives, mothers, daughters. All survivors. All fighters. Many of whom have started their own organizations and movements towards breast cancer education, and have shared their survivor stories so generously with us to help inspire and bring hope to new breast cancer patients in our community.
