2020 Global Impact
2020 was not the 20th anniversary we imagined...
but we could not be more grateful for the work we were able to accomplish and the support that we received during this unprecedented year.
With so many causes you could give to, we can’t tell you enough how much your support has meant to us. Unfortunately, breast cancer doesn’t stop when things are topsy-turvey - but neither do we. We’re here with you and for you, and here are just a few of the amazing things we were still able to do this year!
We launched the NEW Keep A Breast app in English and French. A new and improved self-check resource designed to support you through every step of your self-check, including connecting you with virtual care in the case you may have found something during your check through our amazing partners Carbon Health. Globally, PR efforts were focused mainly in the medical industry.
Years in the making, we held the Keep A Breast Nashville Collection displaying 80+ casts featuring local artists, musicians, survivors, and more. The exhibition was in celebration of our 20th anniversary, with the 1st KAB exhibition being held in 2000.
Fit 4 Prevention got a virtual makeover for it’s 4th year! We partnered with 263 studios/gyms on virtual and outdoor, socially distanced donation-based workout classes.
We launched the KAB Give Back Grants and were able to award 16 grantees (at $500) to Black women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer in Tennessee.
We dug hard into our online education, providing self-care resources for helping us all make this time a little easier.
We spent time in The Democratic Republic of Congo, continuing our grassroots efforts from the last three years, focusing on education in the Haut-Katanga region. Our goals for 2020 were to build relationships locally with the World Health Organization, Minister of Health, and Minster of Women, to help us in establishing the future Keep A Breast Africa Headquarters in the area.
Thank you all so much for your love and support in 2020. We’re so glad to be here for you.
On the horizon in 2021...
We’re all crossing our fingers for the up-and-up of 2021 in all of the ways. We’ll be taking a little rest before then - and we hope you are too.
We’re entering the new year filled with gratitude, appreciation, and full eyes looking forward to what’s to come. We can’t wait to share our next steps with you.
With love,
Shaney jo Darden (Founder, CCO) & Lorene Carpentier-Alins (CEO)
and the whole KAB crew!
