The Chili Cook Off For A Cure, hosted by the West Chicago Professional Firefighters Association, is back! This amazing event has been in the runnings for the last 6 years and has raised over $50k for Keep A Breast!! Co-Founder, Theresa Buenrostro, tells us about why she started the cook off:

On March 9th of 2012, my husband's sister was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer which was traveling to her lymph nodes. I knew I had to do something to show her support and let her know how much we cared.

I, along with my husband, two boys, and daughter-in-law, decided a chili cook off was a great way to show support and raise money for a cause we were all in support of. We already knew the ins and outs of a cook off, as we had previously been involved in other similar events.

Through my husband and sons employment on the West Chicago Fire Protection District, we combined our resources and created 'Chili Cook Off For A Cure'. It has been such a rewarding experience, especially having the opportunity to do it along with our dear friends at Keep A Breast.

$10 at the door, enjoy all you can eat Chili from 10 chefs, huge raffle, and silent auction, plus fun 50/50 and Heads/Tails game! This good time is family friendly! Join us, Saturday, October 7th, 2017 at Hawthorne’s Backyard in West Chicago from 2-9pm.

Want to host your own DIY Action event and raise funds for Keep A Breast? You can! There are so many awesome people that create unique fundraisers to support the cause and have a blast doing it. We want you to join in on the fun!
