Keep a Breast and Katsuya San Diego

This October, Keep A Breast and Katsuya San Diego will be working together to “Roll out the Research” by calling on local influencers and celebrities to create custom rolls using cancer-fighting ingredients! Follow influencers and celebrities such as; Tom Delonge of Blink 182 , Chris Cote of Grind TV, Alexis Del Chiaro of KUSI and others to see who gathers the most social media buzz for their custom roll. By October 15, the custom “roll” with the most momentum will be placed on the menu for the remainder of 2013.  Every time this custom roll is ordered, 50% of the proceeds will benefit the Keep A Breast Foundation.

Why partner with Katsuya? Our office loves sushi! My ideal meal is the Katsuya Rock Shrimp Tempura Roll and a yummy Edamame appetizer! Sushi restaurants also offer an array of beneficial and tasty foods that are known to help maintain proper breast health, BONUS!

Don’t believe us? Well here are the facts and consider including some, if not all, of these great ingredients on your next sushi run:

Fish

Fish are high in Omega-3s and can lower your risk of breast cancer. The best is from wild salmon; high in omega-3s and lower in mercury than other fish. Raw fish is NOT recommended for anyone undergoing chemo.

Cruciferous Vegetables

These include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, bok-choy, kale, and Brussels sprouts. These veggies contain compounds that slow bad estrogen from causing breast cells to grow and divide, and another that helps detoxify estrogen.

Green Tea

The Chinese have been reaping the medicinal benefits of green tea for more than 4,000 years. Green tea inhibits the growth of cancers and decreases the body’s estrogen production.

Soy (including GMO free Edamame and tofu)

An adequate amount of soy in your diet can reduce your chances of breast cancer by 30 to 50 percent. Soy contains a plant estrogen proven to slow tumor growth, prevent metastasis, and shut off blood flow to growing tumors.

Mushrooms

For centuries, the Japanese have been celebrating the medicinal magic of maitake mushrooms. Research shows they can slow, or even shrink, existing cancerous tumors and boost the immune system (especially beneficial to those undergoing chemotherapy). Other cancer-fighting mushrooms: reishi or shiitake.

Seaweeds

Wakame and mekabu seaweeds may help kill cancer cells in much the same way man-made chemotherapeutic drugs do. They are rich in iodine, which is toxic to breast cancer cells.
